What should be prepared for the first session?

It is worth preparing an up-to-date medical or discharge summary, a referral and instructions if any were given, information about any restrictions set for the patient, and the assistive devices they use. At the start of the process the physiotherapist assesses the patient’s condition and the home environment and adapts the goals of treatment and exercise.

Physiotherapy at home

Care Plus provides physiotherapy in the patient’s home. A suitable physiotherapist and treatment approach are selected according to a professional assessment and the patient’s needs.

Possible rehabilitation needs

Home physiotherapy may be considered for mobility and balance difficulties, rehabilitation after surgery or injury, chronic orthopaedic pain, respiratory rehabilitation, age-related functional decline and other needs within the physiotherapist’s professional scope.

Goals of treatment

Treatment goals may include improving or preserving functional independence, movement, balance and physical capacity, and supporting pain management. Goals are determined individually after assessment.

Frequently asked questions

Can physiotherapy start after a hospital stay?

Yes. Depending on the patient’s condition and the medical recommendations, rehabilitation and physiotherapy can begin at home after discharge from hospital.

Can walking rehabilitation be done at home?

Depending on the patient’s condition, the physiotherapist can work on mobility, walking, transfers, strength and balance.

Is the treatment suitable for a patient who has difficulty getting out of bed?

In many cases, an assessment and tailored exercises can be provided even for patients with a significant functional limitation, depending on their condition.

Is special equipment needed at home?

Not always. The physiotherapist adapts the treatment to the home environment and to the equipment required according to the treatment goals.

Can the physiotherapist teach how to use a walker?

When it falls within the scope of treatment and suits the patient, guidance can be given on mobility and the safe use of mobility aids.

Can the treatment help prevent falls?

The treatment can include an assessment of function, balance, strength and mobility, and recommendations aimed at reducing risk factors for falls. Complete prevention of falls cannot be guaranteed.

Will I get exercises to do between visits?

Depending on the patient’s condition, the physiotherapist can create an exercise programme and guide the patient or family members.

How many physiotherapy sessions at home are needed?

There is no fixed number that suits every patient. The number of sessions and their frequency are set according to the assessment, the goals of treatment, the patient’s condition and progress over the course of the process.
