When can a remote specialist consultation be considered?

A remote consultation may be suitable when you want to go over existing medical information with a specialist physician, when getting to an appointment is difficult, or when family members are in different places and want to take part in the conversation. The physician decides whether a remote response is possible; when a physical examination or another assessment is needed, a recommendation for appropriate next steps will be given.

Consultation through CareConsult

CareConsult provides specialist consultations at home or remotely. Remote consultation is a private service arranged through a Care Plus representative.

How remote consultation works

Remote medical care requires identification of the patient and clinician, informed consent, privacy and information-security safeguards, and documentation of the encounter in the medical record. The physician decides whether remote consultation is appropriate. It is not a substitute for emergency services.

Frequently asked questions

What is a remote specialist consultation?

CareConsult provides consultations by specialist physicians at home or remotely. The remote consultation is a private service arranged with a Care Plus service representative, and is based on a conversation with the physician and a review of the relevant medical information.

What medical information may be used in a remote consultation?

Depending on the subject of the enquiry, the physician may review discharge summaries, laboratory tests, imaging tests, an up-to-date medication list and previous opinions.

Is every medical question suitable for a remote consultation?

No. The physician uses their judgement as to whether a remote response is possible. When the information is insufficient or a physical examination is needed, the patient should be referred for further investigation or an in-person appointment, and a different care setting may be recommended.

How is the medical information transferred for a remote consultation?

Before the service is arranged, a Care Plus representative will provide information about the process, the consultation options available and how the medical information will be transferred. Do not send medical documents through the general enquiry form on the website.

Is a remote consultation suitable for an emergency?

No. A remote consultation is not a substitute for emergency services. In a medical emergency, call 101 (Magen David Adom) immediately.
